How to Setup an Announcement Module

    This topic explains how to set up an Announcement Module having background image with overlay text for different method like slide show model or purple model.

    To Create a New Module:

    1. Login to Site Administrator(http://www.urotoday.com/administrator).

    2. Go to Extensions > Module Manager.

    3. Press the New button at the top right corner of the toolbar. When creating a new Module, select the Module Type as Announcement.

    To Edit an Existing Module:

    1. Login to Site Administrator(http://www.urotoday.com/administrator).

    2. Go to Extensions > Module Manager

    3. Click on the Announcement  Module Name in the Module name list view or click the Announcement Module's checkbox and press the Edit button at the top right corner of the toolbar (If you edit an existing Module, the Module Type will already be determined. Note that you cannot change the Module Type of an existing Module).

    The following is an example for Module Announcement page:

    All the Modules have three sections. Please see the details for each case in below sections:

    Setting the Module Details

    The following information is required on Details section.

    • Module Type - This displays the system name of the module. No entry is allowed

    • Title - The Title of the Module

    • Show Title - Set if you want to show the Title of the Module

    • Enabled - Whether the Module is enabled or not. If  set to "No", the Module will not be shown on the page

    • Position - The Position the Module will be shown on the page. There are two types of Positions you can use. You can select a Position from the drop-down list box. The Positions in the list box are those provided by our Template. You can see the available Positions on the page by adding the letters "?tp=1" to the end of any front-end site URL. For example, if your home page is "www.jentla.com", you can type the URL "www.jentla.com?tp=1". The page will display with labeled rectangles indicating each pre-defined Position for the current Template.

    • Order - The Order that this Module will be displayed within the Position. If more than one Module will be displayed at the same position, this determines the order of display. The drop-down list box shows all Modules displaying at the current Position

    • Access Level - Access Level shows who has access to this item. The current options are:

      • Public - Everyone has access

      • Registered - Only registered users have access

      • Special - Only users with author status or higher permissions have access

    • ID - The ID number. This is a unique identification number for this item assigned automatically by Joomla!. It is used to identify the item internally, for example in internal links. You can not change this number

    • Description - The description of what the Module does. No entry is allowed

    Setting the Module Menu Assignment

    The following information is required on Menu Assignment section:

    • Menus - To show the current Module on Menu Items. It has three options, as illustrated below:

    • All - The current Module shows on all Menu Items

    • None - The current Module does not show on any Menu Items

    • Select Menu Item(s) from the List -  The current Module will show only you select the menu items from the drop-down list

    • Menu Selection - If Select Menu Items(s) from the List  above is selected, select the individual Menu Items that will be displayed the Module

    • Use Ctrl+Click to select multiple Menu Items

    • Use Shift+Click to select a range of Menu Items

    • If you want to select most of the Menu Items, first click "All" above under Menus and then click "Select Menu Items(s) from the List". All of the Menu Items will be selected. Then use Ctrl+Click to deselect the Menu Items you don't want to include

    Setting the Module Parameters

    The following information's are required on parameters settings section. It has been divided into two ways as illustrated below:

    Slide Show Details

    To set the Module as Slide Show:

    The following is an example for Slide show details

    • Category - You have two dropdown boxes to select the categories to show the articles linked with it in the Announcement module page. The first dropdown box lists all the categories. From here we can choose the require categories just by clicking its name to use in announcement page. When you click the category in the first dropdown box, it will add with the second dropdown box. If you want to discard the existing categories from the second dropdown box just click on it.
      Note: The most recently created or modified articles will be displayed in announcement module.

    • Pop-up Article Category - Select the pop-up article category as "Front page pop-up category" from the drop-down list

    • Module Class Suffix - A suffix is to be applied for CSS class of the Module. This allows for Individual Module Styling

    • CCK Table Name - Enter the value of CCK Table Name. It is unique for the site

    • CCK Condition - This is the new feature. Initially if you have to set the CCK Fields params like top pick as "Yes" in Jentla Content Manager which shows that article will be linked in module.

    • Unique ID - Enter the value of Param Unique id

    • Layout - It shows the layout Description. This is the new feature. Select "Slide show" from the drop-down list

    • Article Order - Select the article arrangement order list as "Article modified date" from the drop-down list
    • Show Title - Whether to show the title of the Jentla article in the site or not

    • Title Link - Whether to set the title as linkable in the site or not

    • Link Type - Select the link type from the drop-down list

    • Show Description - Whether to show the image description of the jentla article for the site or not

    • Show Text - Whether to show the summary or body text of the jentla article for the site

    • Total Characters shown - Enter the value how many characters will be shown

    • View Pop-up - Whether to show the pop-up for the site or not. Select Yes from the drop-down list

    • Use Pop-up Article - Use the selected Article as pop-up. Select Yes from drop-down list

    • Background image type - Select the background image type as Xlarge from the drop-down list

    Click the Save icon at the upper right corner of the page to save your changes and you have to see the Announcement Module in node front-end with the layout (Slide show) what you have already chosen or click the Cancel icon to abort your changes.

    Purple Box Details

    Purple Box Details: The following is an example for purple box details:

    • Show Background image - Choose the options "Yes" from drop-down list. In that manner you can view the background image in Announcement module
    • Thumb Image Type - Select the Gallery Thumb Image Type from the drop-down list

    • View Thumb Image - Choose the Thumb image position from drop-down list either to view in Left /Right position

    • Overlay Text - Choose the options "Yes" from Overlay text drop-down list. In that manner to view the overlay text on the background image in Announcement module

    • Transition Interval - Set the Transition Interval as 6000
    • Transition Speed (MS) - Set the Param Transition Speed as 400

    • Layout - It shows the layout Description. This is the new feature. Select "Purple Box" from the drop-down list

    Click the Save icon at the upper right corner of the page to save your changes and you have to see the Announcement Module in node front-end with the layout (Purple) what you have already chosen or click the Cancel icon to abort your changes.

    Finally the Announcement Module will be displayed either with Purple model or slideshow model (Whatever you have set in the Layout drop-down in Module parameters) for the site.
